Message from the Shippagan Port Authority - Mechanical Gate System Activated

Notice to Citizens

The 2023 fishing season is upon us, and fishers have begun their activities. The Shippagan Port Authority would like to inform the public that, as of Thursday, March 23 at 6 PM, the mechanical gate system will be activated to control access to port facilities during the fishing season.

Access to the docks will be prohibited via 12th Street, and all entries and exits will be via 15th Street. Traffic will be controlled by the mechanical gate system and limited to access card holders. Following the end of the fishing season, the public will once again have access to the port facilities, both via 12th Street and 15th Street.

The Port Authority management is tasked with managing and operating the harbours as efficiently and safely as possible.  

The Port Authority office and the Monument to Lost Fishermen remain accessible from 12th Street. It should also be noted that cyclists and pedestrians can now use an alternative route near the docks between 12th Street and 15th Street for their activities.
