2024 Recognition Gala

On May 11, 2024, the Municipality of Shippagan will host a Recognition Gala at 6 p.m. at the Acadian Peninsula Convention Centre to honour individuals and organizations who have contributed and made a difference in our wonderful community.

We will present 15 recognition awards. Individuals or organizations must submit their nomination by filling out an online form found at the end of each description. Paper versions will also be available at City Hall.

ORDER OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE This prestigious award recognizes a lifetime of dedication in social and community involvement. It is presented to a citizen who has made or continues to make volunteerism a cornerstone of their life and who inspires the entire community through the exceptional nature of their commitment. The person nominated for the ORDER OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE must be or have been actively involved as a volunteer in the community for at least 15 years.

ORGANIZATION AWARD This award is for an organization that has brought particular distinction to the Municipality of Shippagan in recent years. It has distinguished itself through its volunteer mobilization, its success over the years, and its creativity. The organization must have operated for at least three years within the community and have had a significant impact to receive the Organization Award.

CULTURAL STAR This award recognizes the commitment of an individual whose contribution advances society or culture. Their involvement may include areas such as intergenerational connections, music, artistic creation, heritage, etc.

SPORTS STAR This category aims to recognize the involvement of an athlete or sports enthusiast who makes a difference in the sports community of the Municipality of Shippagan, or who stands out for their achievements and leadership.

WELL-BEING STAR This award is given to an organization or individual who volunteers their time to improve the well-being of the community (physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, professional, or social).

LITERARY STAR This award is for an individual or organization that is passionate and stands out in the field of literature. Their involvement has a beneficial effect on their community, and their dedication deserves recognition.

ARTISTIC STAR This award is dedicated to an individual or organization that has completed one or more artistic projects that have a real impact on the community and social life of local communities.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT STAR This award is dedicated to an individual or organization that has completed one or more artistic projects that have a real impact on the community and social life of local communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL STAR This award recognizes an individual or organization for their dedication to the environmental cause through concrete projects or their sustained involvement in environmental protection.

SENIORS' STAR The award is presented to a senior who makes exceptional contributions, gets involved, and commits to the aging community. Nominees must be 50 years of age or older.

YOUTH STAR The award is presented to a young person who makes exceptional contributions, gets involved, and commits to the community. Nominees must be 30 years of age or younger.

EMERGING TALENT STAR This category recognizes the efforts of an individual who takes up the torch to keep alive an event, cause, or organization that makes its mark in the Municipality of Shippagan community.

EVENT STAR This award is dedicated to an individual or organization that has organized one or more events with a significant impact on the community or social life of local communities.

AMBASSADOR STAR This award is presented to an individual who promotes the Municipality of Shippagan at the provincial, national, or international level. This individual does not necessarily reside within the municipality's limits but is originally from there.

STAR BUSINESS This entrepreneurial award recognizes a business that steps up, contributing time or money, to the success of activities and causes that matter to their community.
